Allen and Heather made it to SC.

Yes, They made it to Santa Cruz. It was a tough trip with very little sleep and they made it still smiling and in good cheer. They already are looking over the surf boards and spying out the great waves. The ocean air is wet and Heather was looking for a way to wipe it off. Takes a little time to get used to all the humidity.



Yaa...a.a. They finally get to meet the umbrella-man. He even talked to Heather. Very impressive. He is one of our local works of art. We get quite a few of those.























Just like Abby Road in London (with be Beatles), the gang walk across the famous Pacific ave. It turned out to be a grand day in Santa Cruz. They ended on the warf looking at the sunset and watching the sea lions roar.

Hank at SC mountain gun club.

The scouts hiked 6 miles and then to the gun club to pass off their merit badges. Hank was the amazing kid. Hank was a sharp shooter. He shot his first try with a 100% hits. The trainer was shocked this was Hank's first time at it. The second set of 25 he missed 2 (98%). Dude,.... Hank Rocks. The rest of the day I spent with Hank sitting in the shade watching the others try to qualify by getting 48% or more to pass. Several didn't make it. Way to go Hank.

Audrey is graduating to high school with friends who think highly of her. Graduation was during a heat wave but we were all proud to be there to see her move on to 9th grade. She is an honors student.

Hank is moving on to middle school and we watched him today graduate as an honors student. I am glad that they are doing so well. All the Halversens are noted for having smart kids. This be the truth. Hope your having a great summer. Scott

Bryce's New Look!

HELLO SUMMER!

We decided to take a summer vacation early this year and beat all the rush to Yellowstone! We had a great time. We saw every animal in the park except a moose, but it's o.k. because we saw one up the canyon from our house today so we're counting it! The park was empty with the exception of a bunch of wildlife photographers trying to catch a glimpse of some newborns in the park. The day we got there a photographer got mauled by a mama grizzly. He followed her and her cub for about a mile when she got sick of him and literally took his face off. I think leaving a mama bear and her cub alone is probably a better idea. A nice big black bear came within a foot of the car and the kids were pressed up to the glass like suckerfish. It was great! We had a little bout of the stomach flu, but it was nothing that could slow is down too much. We took a short stop in Jackson where they had an Old West festival going on and then headed home. It was a great trip! So that was our official summer kick-off! Now it's time to get serious about the reunion! I think it is going to be a great time and I'm planning some good times together. The kids are really looking forward to seeing all of their cousins as I'm sure all of your kids are too! You should have recieved a note in the mail giving you some info. Here is a partial family portrait. Sorry about the top of Geoff's head, but at 6' 2" , it's hard to get all of him in a picture. You may notice something a little different about Roxanne...Jess decided I needed a little something and so she highlighted my hair. Geoff says it makes me look younger. That's my boy.

Trip to the temple

We had a youth temple trip on Thursday. The group picture (minus me) is our youth minus about 4 boys and 4 girls. This is actually considered a big group out here. Brian didn't get to come because they changed the date at the last minute and he had a big outage. I was worried Morgan wouldn't be able to come with us on his first temple trip because he had a fever, sore throat and earache the night before. After a trip to the doctor where he complained about his right ear, the doctor diagnosed him with an ear infection in the left ear! An antibiotic and some ibuprofen later, and we were all set to go. For those of you out west, that is the Louisville, Kentucky temple in the background.

Hanks B-day

Hank is 12.... We had a blast on the beach. Seven boys, seven big shovels, seven huge holes and eleven connecting passageways. We played all kinds of sand sports and flew kites. It was lots of fun. We had a ton of food left over even though the kids ate quite a bit and burnt (probably just for fun) even more over the bonfire. It is nice to frolic in the waves all afternoon especially when you can chase three little sister tag-a-longs. No big sisters to chase though because Audrey and her gang of five were hanging out down the beach "tanning". Hank ended up with a Japanese language program (watch out Heather, Hank already knows how to say "May I have one of your business cards please") and his heart's desire, a PSP with some of his favorite games to go on it. He is a happy boy looking forward to a summer free from school. Scott

You may be asking yourself, "Is that a used car lot?" No, it's Brian's driveway. And believe it or not, two of our cars are missing from this picture. How many cars can one person drive at a time? (I ask myself). I think he's a little crazy with his hobby.

I haven't seen a new post in awhile so I thought I'd break the silence. Things with us are going great! Busy Busy Busy as I'm sure you all know. I seems that this time of the year the schools want to cram as much as possible into the month of May. The dance studio is getting ready for recital so I'm putting in extra time there, the kids are in soccer, T-ball, tumbling, dance, girl scouts, and whatever else comes our way! Trust me, I'm trying not to overschedule!!! Saxon took a tumble out of the car a couple of weeks ago and boy did he get a goosegg! From that goosegg came a swollen nose, two black eyes, and questionable looks to the parents from everyone who encountered him!! A few days after that he took another blow to the head when he decided to take a causual stroll in front of Vienna's swing. I'm suprised social serviced hasn't arrived at our door. We have also decided to be owners of rabbits. It is a long story, but we have two new lion head bunnies and they are cute. Very easy to take care of and the kids love them. Now all we need is some chickens, a few goats, and a cow and we will have a regular old farm!!! NO THANKS! No more animals for me. I'm just glad our kids take care of the ones we have.

We are heading up to mom and dad's for Mothers Day! I hope all of you mothers have a nice peaceful mothers day. The thing about mothers day is, we don't really get the day off, EVER! We are always mothers and that is all there is too it! I've learned not to expect much on this day. But it is wonderful at the least. Oh Wells, I hope everyone's is grand!

We had a calm sunday. I taught 2 lessons. We cooked up turkey burgers on the George Forman Grill. Snoozed a little. Went to the nearby ball diamond down the block to hit some balls around. The kids love the ball time when they get to hit a bucket of balls pitched by dear old Dad. You don't get that much attention from a game or a practice. Sarah was eager to break a record for hitting a ball out of the infield. Sarah's ball coach says she will get an Icee for hitting a ball out there. For a seven year old, that is a big thing. It was a great Sunday in the sun. Sarah and I are reading the Harry Potter book Order of the Phoniex to get ready for the movie coming out in July (she loves to read). Scott and Kate

California monopoly.

It was nice to take a break Sunday to relax together as a family. We have been so busy this past month it feels good to be still for awhile. We had fun on the Florida trip and most of us are finally over the cold/flu we picked up. Audrey is off on a week long school trip to Yosemite National park in the California Sierra mountains. We miss her already. It is nice to go to a school that has so many big activities and extra days off. Both Hank and Sarah are thrilled to go with dad to work this week. The special kids at work day will be loaded with fun and tours. After that is a big company movie party at one of the triplexs near by. All the pizza, soda, and candy you can eat in front of a full size movie screen. I hope to win some big cash too, with some luck. Have a great week. -Scott

A Fun Weekend in Logan!

Well it was spring break for us here in Utah and with Vienna having a dance competition in Logan, our destination was a given! We made a fun trip out of it and had a great time! Vienna did so well and she and her team took Gold! We are so proud of her. She even got to take home a rather beautiful dancer sculpture for her trophy (mom was happy it wasn't an unly piece of plastic!!). We just spent time playing in the pool, eating great sushi from a new sushi restaurant in Logan, and watching dance (not Bryces idea of a fun spring break unless his little girl is dancing!). It was a great weekend!

An EGGSTREME Easter in Utah!

O.k. so I know this is a week late, but better late then never! We had a nice Easter with mom and dad and Brian and Jess. After a visit from the Easter Bunny, they came to church with us which was fun then we had a little Easter dinner at my house! Then we did a little digesting and decided to go for a walk to the park! Sounds real exciting I know, but sometimes it is just nice to hang out and be together. I think mom and dad even scored a nap at some point during the day!! The park was fun! Lots of goofy pictures, playing with the dogs, and just plain ol' fun! The only thing missing was everyone else! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday. We miss everyone very much. Seeing Brian makes me realize how much I miss the whole family. Thank goodness for the family reunion!

How are the Halversens all over the place? We sure hope your Easter was a little more easy than ours. We heard that Lori hosted dinner at thier house and I am sure made some delicious specialty foods! My contribution to Easter dinner at my mom's was a fresh fruit salad wrapped in a delectable layers of extra sweetened cool whip. Not exactly gourmet but tasty nonetheless!

Let's FLY!

I happy to announce that we finally bought our tickets to UTAH for July!!! It was a difficult thing to find- but I think we were really blessed to get what we did! Of course I have been checking for months and every time I have they have been around $400 (or MORE) a pop! I was getting kind of worried! Then, yesterday, I looked for a half hour online and literally EVERY date I put in was unavailable on travelocity! THEN, I checked some airlines online directly and they quoted me $560 a ticket! I was starting to think we'd have to come to Las Vegas to get to Salt Lake. I called my mom and told her my predicament, and true to form she pulled some magic and found us tickets going into SLC for 250 a ticket TOTAL with taxes and everything! I have NO IDEA how they showed up!

Soooo, this is the deal. We are getting in on the 3rd of JULY, which is really nice for us because it allows all of us to fly in together, (we were planning on flying completely separately) and then Mark will stay until Sunday. We, on the other hand are staying for 3 whole weeks! I was originally wanting to stay with the kids for 2 weeks, but those dates were not available. SOOO, I am hoping to do this. 1 week at Lori and Bryce's, 1 week at Nana and Papa's and then split the last week between my old college roommate (lives in provo) and a good friend of mine from Texas that lives in Saratoga now. I am super excited to get away for all this time and want to make it a fun vacation. So I want to plan lots of fun things!! Anyway- just had to share!

Its been a while

Hey everyone, sorry that I haven't been able to get on and write lately...
Time runs fast between school finals and work. In addition to finishing one school final and preparing for another, Shawn and I now have jobs. About two months ago Shawn and I started working at a local restaurant named Stockman's Restaurant. Shawn is one of the hosts and he says that he loves and enjoys it. I am an 'all around' person. I usually help with dishes, the chefs and servers, and other days I do pantry. (The pantry person does all the food that isn't cooked on the stove or grill. Things like salads, appetizers and deserts.) I like pantry because I get to make very large deserts that include LOTS, yes LOTS of whipped cream, ice cream and chocolate. But the best part is decorating the desert plates to go with the yummy deserts. Allen is painting large, upscale houses with our uncles and grandpa to earn money for his mission. He is working on his mission papers and should turn them in in April. Ryan is working on his art merit badge and will be receiving his first-class ranking next court of honor. Right now my dad is on a business trip in Oklahoma. Allen and I wish to give all of you a warning: As of next Monday, Shawn will be starting Drivers Ed! Please stay off the sidewalks!

Disco night at the school

Hanks school had a Disco mother and son dance. Hank decided to go retro and be the cool Disco kid during the dance. Platform shoes, polyester shirt, and cool shades. I told him that back then they didn't wear undershirts under the polyester, but he thought I was crazy. Now that I think of it, it was pretty crazy. I spent some nights on the lighted disco floor with angle flight bell bottoms and a vest covering a wide collor shirt.... Scary... whooooow, Flashbacks....
It may be hard to sleep tonight with that thought in my head.
Kate was great. She dressed the part and did the "Hustle" until her feet hurt in the her high heals. They were both glad to be back in the present.

The Person I Most Admire

The person I most admire is my dad. Scott Halversen has a good personality. He is very smart, caring, and funny. Scott has orange hair and is an average height. My dad is special to me.

I’ll never forget when dad went snowboarding with me. It was February 25, 2007 at Dodge Ridge and I wanted to go snowboarding but no one would go with me. Then my dad said he would go with me. No matter how many times he fell he still would go with me. I will never forget it.

The results of this event have changed my behavior and thinking. I am more grateful to my dad in general. He did a big thing falling down the hill snowboarding just to keep me company and this big thing helps me notice all the smaller things he does all the time. I am more persistent when things aren’t easy. Snowboarding isn’t easy but it sure is fun when you persist and start to get better at it. I really like snowboarding now and I want to go back to the ski resort. Remembering that snowboarding was hard and it was worth trying hard to figure it out makes me more persistent when things aren’t easy. I am also very thankful to my dad for going with me snowboarding for my very first time. This is why I admire my dad

Happy Birthday Mom!

We had mom and dad over today for a traditional St. Patricks Day dinner, well almost! Of course we had corned beef, but no cabbage. We had Greek dolmas instead, their a lot yummier than cabbage!! It was a great dinner and it was even more fun to give mom her much anticipated birthday gift! OSCAR!! After countless hours of searching, I have finally found mom and dad the one thing they have been needing for many years now, a dog. Oscar is a black and white cocker spaniel and he is fantastic! He's two years old and has the best personality! Mom and Dad were surprised, but very happy to have a new friend around the house to keep them company! I think they are going to have a lot of fun with thier new pet! This is the kind of dog that will sit by dad for countless hours in the garage, and be moms right hand man in the garden. Such a loving little pooch. I am excited for them! We had some great cake with all the neighborhood kids around to celebrate! We even built a fire for roasting marshmellows! The weather has been so nice that the kids spent the afternoon in their swimsuits!! It reached 79 today! It's hard to believe that it's still technically winter. Well, we had a great celebration! Call mom and ask her how the new man in her life is doing, Oscar!

The idea is that some of my friends use the really ugly t-shirty over the head bibs because of practicality, so the babe can't get it off. Ahh, Kids! Gotta love em!

Had to put a few funny pics of the kids! Vienna dressed Saxon up as a "supermodel" the other day and praded him all around the neighborhood. I'm sure the neighbors are rethinking their plans to find a new home! Vienna is so into face painting and begs me to come up with a new creation all the time. And Saxon, well, he's two and a dirty face is a happy face! We love that kid!

Loving winter but ready for Spring!

Here we are at this interesting time of year when we love the snow and all the fun activities that come with it, however wishing it were spring. With the temperature up to 75 today we can't complain too much! The kids wanted to know if I could put out the Slip n' Slide. That was too funny! Jess came out this weekend to hang out and we had a ton of fun. Vienna, Jess, and I went to Snowbird on Friday night to do a little riding. Vienna wanted to show Jess her SKILLS! Then we went shopping up in Park City with Mom on Saturday. Thats where I got to show Jessica MY skills! Shopping is always fun! In all it was a great weekend and hopefully after the interesting week Jessica had with all of her headbanging she had a nice time too!

I'm still finalizing all of the reunion plans and regardless of my nagging phone calls this week, we are still going to plan on having it the week of the 4th. I will get out our solidified plans by the end of the week! We are going to have a great time and I have some fun things planned. I can't wait for the 1st ever Halversen Family Reunion! It's going to be a blast! I'll keep you updated!

Hank bridges to Boy Scouts

The Cub Scout bridging to Boy Scouts is a very special moment. It was a grand indian ceremony with a drum circle, a brave shooting arrows into a scout symbol (one arrow per boy), and braves dancing around the fire. There was a 5 foot high rope bridge that was crossed from cub leader to boy scout troop. The arrow with the scouts name and abilities were presented to the boys with a special arrow of light symbol carved into the plack. There cub leader was presented with 14 hands full of flowers after the event. We are proud of Hank. -- Scott
