Mark spoke with Scott tonight about this idea so I am just putting it quckly into action! Please join in and lets see what we can share together to get a sweeter picture of everyone's lives! Thanks, Rachel
Audrey wrote some idea about "Absence of Threat/Nurturing Environment".
In the show Sweet Life of Zach and Cody (as seen on the disney channel) there were 17 putdowns in ten minutes of the program. If it were five hours, it would be 560 putdowns. When people see the characters on TV putting each other down sometimes it seems funny. The shows even have a laugh track to show you it is supposed to be funny. When you see them so often in a show it seems so normal to use them on a daily basis. This shows poor life skills, which can turn into fights, wars, and even homeless dudes. For example if I got a “C” on my math test and some guy says, “Oh, yeah, you’re stupid. I got an “A”. I would feel bad and loose confidence in myself in math and I might be embarrassed if I was sensitive. If one kid gets a lot of put downs he might turn into a bully who says more put downs to make another bully and that’s the bully circle of life. Or some kids become shy and hide from the world. Young children are learning the most about how to behave, but they watch TV. I can’t go through one day without hearing a little kid saying a put down. The children even say potty talk put downs like “pooper scooper”. It is even worse when older people say put downs to children because children are the most vulnerable. My seven-year-old sister runs to her room and cries even if I just mutter “weirdo”. And it takes forever for her to just except my apology. Put downs on TV can corrupt anybody’s world and that’s why I try to ignore them. So don’t laugh the next time you hear or see a putdown. EXPECIALY Your Mamma Show.
Greeting....Hope you are all well and happy. I don't know where the summer has gone but we are now pressing the fall season. We still have a good two months of good weather and my yet be able to get the boat out. We are still in pretty good shape and enjoy pleasures this life has to offer. Take care.
